Openstage
Step in. You’re the controller. Controller-free XR powered by ZED stereo depth sensing, for museums, exhibitions and public spaces.

Openstage turns any large display into a stage anyone can step onto. A ZED stereo camera sees the space in depth and tracks each visitor’s full 3D skeleton in real time, and adaptive interaction logic turns that movement into play. Hands, arms and whole body are the interface: no wearables, no controllers, no onboarding.

Under the hood
Explained from the system’s own source code.
Sense in depth
A ZED stereo camera streams depth and the ZED SDK’s 38-keypoint body model, so wrists, shoulders, spine, pelvis and head are known in 3D, many times a second.
Lock on to the player
Openstage picks a primary player and keeps their tracking ID. If someone walks in front of them for a moment, it re-attaches to the same person instead of restarting the game.
Measure against each body
An arm counts as raised when the wrist clears the shoulder by half the shoulder-to-head distance, so a child and an adult trigger it the same way. A jump is the pelvis rising more than 10 cm within a few frames.
Play without staff
The same few gestures drive every game and the menu: raise an arm to switch game, lower it and wait to play. Recorded voice prompts guide visitors from the first second.
One camera, a library of games
The menu
Raise an arm to browse the games, lower it and wait three seconds to play. No buttons, no staff.
Flying Bird
The bird follows you from side to side. Collect the good things, dodge the rocks.
Branch Jumper
Jump for real to climb from branch to branch, as high as you can go.
Jump, Dodge & Smash
A forest run: punch through thorny branches and jump over everything else.
Christmas Catch
A seasonal edition: move to catch the falling gifts in Santa’s sack.
Recycle!
Carry the right bin under the falling waste: plastic, glass, paper or organic.

What it does
ZED stereo depth & 3D skeletons
A ZED stereo camera captures depth and full-body 3D skeletal tracking, reading hands, arms, torso and posture for natural, controller-free interaction.
Adaptive interaction zones
Interaction areas resize, reposition and adjust sensitivity in real time to each visitor’s body and range of motion.
Instant per-user calibration
Every visitor can start straight away, with no manual setup, wearables or assisted calibration.
Body-centred interaction
Interactions are calculated relative to the user’s own body rather than fixed screen coordinates, so they feel intuitive.
Built for real venues
Stereo depth copes with changing light and busy backgrounds, and rule-based logic keeps behaviour predictable and robust on a crowded floor.
Inclusive by design
Adapts to children, adults, seated participants and people with reduced mobility, so anyone can step in and play.
